Action Adventure & Responsibility: The World's First "Zero-Emissions" Motor Challenge!

On the last day of 2007 Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai, India will see a group of over 60 international adventure aficionados take the helm of 26 autorickshaws, as they set off on their 1024KM race to Kannyakumari…. This time though, they’re going green.

South India’s internationally renowned Classic Autorickshaw Challenge became famous in 2006 for its ground breaking move into adventure tourism and the autorickshaw rally scene. This year organisers are taking their responsibilities to the environment one step further with the implementation of a carbon-offsetting scheme, which will see the development of sustainable local agriculture and the planting of trees in Tiruvannamalai. With this simple but historic move, the CEAT Classic Autorickshaw Challenge 2007 becomes the world's first environmentally responsible motor sport event.

Hailed as "An amazing race for the clinically insane", the Autorickshaw Challenge supports teams through every type of micro-climate possible; from major cities to off-the-map rural villages. The group of 67 like minded international participants are privileged to an intimate journey of cultural experiences, of both land and people. Chennai Event Management Services, the organizers behind the Challenges, hope that the success of this hugely innovative program will be a pivotal development for the larger motor sports and tourism industries.

At present international certification standards for this form of agro forestry are non-existent, both the organizers and Trees for the Future have therefore pioneered a program design specifically for the race. It is with this forward thinking style of organisation that Chennai Event Management Services hope to see a new era of environmental accountability.

Some of the Interesting Google Recipes

Google is part of Net surfers’ everyday life. It is in fact difficult to imagine life without Google, the search engine company that is now as revered as the mighty software giant Microsoft, if not more. But there are a number of things about Google that few people know about.

Here is a list of 10 such very interesting things about the search giant.

The name Google is a spelling error. The founders of the site, Larry page and Sergey Brin, thought they were going for 'Googol.' Googol is the mathematical term for 1 followed by 100 zeros. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, and was popularized in the book, Mathematics and the Imagination by Kasner and James Newman. Google's play on the term reflects the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available on the web.

Initially, Larry and Sergey Brin called their search engine BackRub, named for its analysis of the of the web's "back links." The search for a new name began in 1997, with Larry and his officemates starting a hunt for a number of possible new names for the rapidly improving search technology.

The reason the google page is so bare is because the founder didn’t know HTML and just wanted a quick interface.

Due to the sparseness of the homepage, in early user tests they noted people just kept sitting staring at the screen, waiting for the rest to appear. To solve the particular problem the Google Copyright message was inserted to act as an end of page marker.

Google started as a research project by Larry page and Sergey Brin when they were 24 and 23 years respectively. Google's mission statement is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

The company’s first office was in a garage, in Menlo Park, California. Google’s first employee was Craig Silverstein, now Google's director of technology.

The basis of Google's search technology is called PageRank that assigns an "importance" value to each page on the web and gives it a rank to determine how useful it is. However, that is not why it is called PageRank. It is actually named after Google co-founder Larry Page.

Google receives about 20 million search queries each day from every part of the world, including Antarctica and Vatican.

You can have the Google homepage set up in as many as 116 different languages -- including Urdu, Latin, Cambodia, Tonga, and Yoruba. In fact, Google has the largest network of translators in the world.

In the earliest stage of Google, there was no submit button, rather the Enter key needed to be pressed.

Google has banned computer-generated search requests, which can sop up substantial system resources and help unscrupulous marketers manipulate its search rankings.

The Google’s free web mail service Gmail was used internally for nearly two years prior to launch to the public. The researchers found out six types of email users, and Gmail has been designed to accommodate these six.

The free e-mail service recently changed its name for new UK users. Following a trademark dispute with a London-based Independent International Investment Research, the mail account has been renamed Google Mail.

It would take 5,707 years for a person to search Google's 3 billion pages. The Google software does it in 0.5 seconds.

Google Groups comprises more than 845 million Usenet messages, which is the world's largest collection of messages or the equivalent of more than a terabyte of human conversation.

The logos that appear on the Google homepage during noteworthy days and dates and important events are called Google Doodle. The company has also created an online museum where it has all the logos it has put on various occasions so far.

Dennis Hwang, a Korean computer artist in the United States, is the guy behind these witty Doodles. Hwang has been drawing the face of Google for over two years.

Lalung - Man who spent 54 yrs in jail

Machang Lalung, who was kept under custody for more than half a century without a trial and forgotten, is dead released in July 2005.

The 77-year-old man was beginning to savour freedom with his family in his village near Tezpur when death snatched him away.

Lalung was only 23 when he was arrested in 1951 for a petty crime and never faced a trial. He went on to serve almost 54 years initially in police custody and later on at the Tezpur Mental hospital.

Lalung was in custody for so long that he even forgot the reason why he was sent to jail in the first place. After living in an asylum for so long, Lalung could barely put his thoughts across. He lived his last days with his niece Sadhna Pator. But for the 77-year-old justice came 54 years too late.

New year resolutions

No matter how successful one has been in following the resolutions in previous year, one makes fresh resolutions for the coming year with full determination and will. The starting days of New Year are the most crucial in order to plan for the entire year. These are the days when most of the people sketch a graph for the whole year. To materialize the things thought of is somewhat difficult but still some people manage to do so. New Year resolutions provide a sort of direction to people to lead the coming year.

Some of the most popular New Year resolutions are – losing weight, earning a good amount of money, paying debts, starting a good exercise regime and resolving conflicts. Some people also think of giving money in charity in the coming year.

So? what's yours this year?

Joke of the day

Tom was invited to his friend’s house for dinner. He found that his buddy called his wife every cute name in the book: honey, darling, sweetheart, pumpkin, and baby.
When she was in the kitchen, he leaned over to his friend and said, “I think it’s nice you still call your wife all those pet names.” “To tell you the truth,” his friend said, “I forgot her name abut three years ago.”

Hi Everybody,

Today am very unhappy, so publish my blog in white and balck color ok ya.....

How modern life style and junk foods are responsible for acne breakouts?

Alice at Acne Clearup says:“Junk foods are usually high glycemic indexed foods that increase toxicity in blood. Liver has its average capacity to remove toxins from the body, in case of excessive toxicity, it is removed through skin. When toxins pass through hair follicles they accumulate here and clog tiny skin pores.Rapid industrialization results in environmental pollution. Carbon monoxide is an extremely toxic gas increasing free radicals and destroying vitamin C. Vitamin C takes part in the growth of epithelial cells. Most of your hair follicles are epithelial cells. Therefore, toxicity hinders the process of healthy growth of epithelial tissues.Your body did not perform evolution as rapidly as industrialization do. Thus, environmental pollution puts a profound impact on your immune system. Your immune system can not recognizes these toxins and produce antibodies erroneously which destroys epithelial cells instead of what induced them”.About:Acne Clearup (http://www.acneclearup.com) is a well known organization serving skin health information and knowledge, acne solutions etc. The organization has a team of research writers that are continuously striving to provide true and useful information, knowledge and solutions to cope with acne.Website Link: http://www.acneclearup.com

The Giant Google with its ‘Knol’

Last night on the official Google blog announced that Google is testing a publishing platform called Knol. It is a wiki-like personal publishing platform and a webpage for authors, who can create topics, and also can interlink their articles and content. Its like Google giving a platform for each writers. Where it differs from a wiki is its focus on the author because a page may have many authors.

Knolls are not like collaboration system, it will highlight who wrote the particular article or content. Its also like a blog, but much more poised and integrated.

If any surfer likes a knoller writings, the surfer can able to read more articles written by that person or Knoller in Google terms. It’s like new name for writers, knollers. Its somewhat different from all other encyclopedias and it is a take on knowledge collection, the comparisons are apt.

Google goes on doing more research to make the internet user friendly. We the people getting more benefits for it…

Hats off to Google….

Angelina Jolie is Eco friendly

Angelina Jolie is well known not just for her acting ability but for the good deeds she does for various organizations. If Jolie is environmentally friendly as well, she could make her flowers and plants even friendlier for the earth. A new line of flowerpots has just hit the market, and they're sure to draw the eyes...and wallets...of all those who do what they can to keep the earth clean and healthy.

The pots, called EcoForm pots, are a new line of beautifully designed containers being sold by a company based in
Santa Rosa, California. These pots are earth friendly because they're made from grain husks, like rice hulls. The binders used are starch-based and water-soluble and all additives are biodegradable. With ingredients like those, the pots are completely biodegradable, so they make good environmental sense.

They also make good economical sense, because they're durable, too. The pots are meant to last for a period of five years. At the end of that time, they decompose naturally and form a rich organic material with a PH of 7.

Surely big-name stars like Angelina Jolie who are concerned about the environment will help fuel this trend for biodegradable plant and flower containers.

Advice advice advice….

Every human has their own opinion in every single thing. But the word advice really changes one thought and make them to move in another path whether its rite or wrong. Advice is a matter which grows along with us from our puerility to our end. Good or bad, like or not, everybody will experience this ideal word Advice…

So hear my advice and try to walk with it…

Hi Everbody

Am here to share my thoughts with you guys....
Let I start with a good joke, which i want you people to enjoy the truth in this....
How many racists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None -- they don't want to be enlightened!

Self-confidence

Hi...I'm back.

This time let's see how we could develop our self-confidence...

Self-confident people inspire confidence in others: Their audience, their peers, their bosses, their customers, and their friends. Gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways in which a self-confident person finds success.

The good news is that self-confidence really can be learned and built on. And, whether you’re working on your own self-confidence or building the confidence of people around you, it’s well-worth the effort! All other things being equal, self-confidence is often the single ingredient that distinguishes a successful person from someone less successful.

I Am Legend

‘I Am Legend’

Richard Matheson's fiction ‘I Am Legend’ is an upcoming 2007 American post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Will Smith hits the Indian screens on December 14th.

It is the fourth film adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend, following 1964's The Last Man on Earth, 1971's The Omega Man and 2007's straight to video I Am Omega. Its all about advance science’s dominant in earth.

Smith plays the role of Robert Neville, perhaps Earth's only survivor of a man-made virus. He works to create a cure but is stalked by nocturnally mutant survivors of the blight.

To Africa and Back by Articulated Bus - 20,000k under the Sun.

Early next year, a small team of committed international adventurers will undertake a massive journey never before attempted.
The aim is simple, but the execution will be a great challenge: starting January 2008, a team of seven international adventurers, and two drivers, will pilot a mammoth, 16.5m long, specially configured bus on a journey from Budapest, Hungary, right across Western Europe and North Africa to Bamako, Mali and back. Known as the Bus Number 7 project, the team are preparing to cover well over 20,000km.
Along the way the team will have to tackle every obstacle imaginable, from sand storms, impenetrable Saharan sand-dunes to the daunting African border control, all with only their wits and a good slice of luck to rely on. The journey will break boundaries never before crossed as it makes a record-breaking crossing of the Sahara in a first for a vehicle of its kind.
For such an epic journey, the team are fortunately well-prepared, with a wealth of experience adversity between them. Team leader Aravind Bremanandam, spends most of his spare time organising the Autorickshaw Challenge, a project he set up back in 2006 and which sees teams from around the world driving the legendary 3-wheelers right across India. Fellow team-mate Attila Berényi is a veteran of the 2006 and 2007 Budapest-Bamako rallies, which will be of great value as the Bus Number 7 project will be the star participant of the Budapest Bamako 2008 rally on its outward journey.
More than just a journey though, the Bus Number 7 project’s mission is to use this incredible journey as not-for-profit event raising money for the local children of Western Africa . The team see the positive power and popularity of sport as a suitable partnering spirit for the project to brighten the lives of these children, and aim to deliver sports equipment to schools and villages in collaboration with community leaders. Furthermore, Bus Number 7 aims to become an institution in itself, with the voyage to Africa just the beginning of things to come. After the initial journey to Bamako , the Bus will spend months touring Europe to promote the project and raise awareness of its charity mission.

Have a pet… Have a great fun…

If we think about pets, in a fraction of seconds we go for a puppy dog, why we say no to for cats…

You know Cats are cute and sweet… I feel that cats are adorable and make such wonderful pets. They are tiny and don't take up much space…You can even have a cat or two in a flat unlike a dog. They don't expect us to love them all the time nor we needn't waste our time in taking them for a walk or to struggle with them for a bath... They are very clean and don't eat too much. Cats are usually timid creatures and they seldom bite…

Thats our pretty cats…
